Pee Wee White ran its record to 3-0 this weekend by edging out Syosset 8-6 in a real thriller of a game. Once again Pee Wee White drew first blood on an end run by Dominique Alexander to take a 6-0 lead. Nick Ferrara kicked the extra point to make it 8-0 which turned out to be the difference in the game.
Syosset's tough defense kept Pee Wee White in check for the rest of the game, leaving it up to the Pee Wee White defense to meet the challenge. They responded brilliantly. Kyle Perkins and Dylan Muller contained Syosset from running outside and were supported by the linebacking crew of David Williams, Nick Ferrara and Dominique Alexander. The defensive line of Kevin McKenna, Nicholas Thomas, Mike Cook, Andrew McKiel, Sean Brophy, Patrick Higgins, and Ryan Bodanowicz were also up for the task that lay ahead of them and shut down Syosset's inside running game. The secondary, which consisted of Tyler Rosenkranz, Anthony Wrightington, and Eddie Valesquez also played brilliantly in turning back Syosset's offense.
With the game now in a defensive struggle Pee Wee White seemed to be on to another victory when the game took a sudden turn. While running an end run, a Syosset player stripped White's running back of the ball and ran it in for a touchdown. Syosset tried to tie the game by kicking the extra point but it fell short and White held on to a two point lead.
With little time left, it was now up to White's offense to run out the clock and preserve a 8-6 victory.
Special mention should be made to Patrick Higgins and Kevin McKenna on several outstanding tackles during the game.
Pee Wee White is now 3-0 and looking forward to its next challenge against Broad Channel. Way to go White!
