John Patrick Larrick, who pursued a varied career as a successful business executive, photographer and entrepreneur, passed away suddenly on Aug. 14, 1999. Jack was raised in Bellmore where he attended St. Barnabas School. It was here that he met Gloria Kelly, who was to become his lifelong friend and companion.
He went on to graduate from Chaminade High School and the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, Class of '44. He served as an officer on merchant ships during WWII.
After the was, he married "Kel," as he always affectionately called her, and they became one of the pioneering families of Levittown, where they raised six children.
Proud of their heritage, he and Kel recently visited Ireland, tracing their roots, meeting family and found it to be a true homecoming. Last November their children and grandchildren gathered in Cancun for the happy celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Although his accomplishments were many, he will be best remembered as a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather, a gourmet cook, the neighborhood "on-call" handyman, but most of all, as a true gentleman.
He was recently honored on television as an eyewitness to Lindbergh's historic Roosevelt Field to Paris flight.
He is survived by his wife Kel, and children, Patricia Eidy of Charlotte, Michael of San Francisco, Kevin of San Diego, Kathy Pullan of Los Angeles and Susan Larrick-Boyd of Bayville. He was predeceased by their daughter Nancy Ellen.
