Many residents of the community came out this summer to attend the Levittown Soccer Club sponsored First Annual Luigi Pellini Alumni game held at MacArthur High School. The team was coached by Kevin Regan, past president of LSC and coach of the 1968 and 1976 travel teams. Regan is still very involved with the youth of the community, serving as president of the Levittown-Island Trees Youth Council.
All alumni donated their time in playing to raise funds to help support the Luigi Pellini Scholarship fund. Pellini was the founder of LSC, starting the club over 20 years ago, with an enrollment of less than 50 players. The club has since grown, with over 1,300 children participating in this upcoming season.
Competing against the alumni also donating their time, in their farewell performance, were members of the 1981 Levittown Avengers, coached by Mike Gennaro. In their 10 years together, the Levittown Avengers earned much respect across Long Island, winning four division championships, including this past season's LIJSL Division I title. The under 10 girls travel team served as ball girls and treated the fans to an exhibition half-time show.
