Yours, Ours, Mine Community Center will be holding the Fourth Annual Lester Smith Memorial Golf Outing on Oct. 15 at 1 p.m.

The event is being held at the Swan Lake Golf Course in Manorville, near Exit 70 off the LIE. It includes a light lunch, 18 holes of golf with a shotgun start, and a complete dinner with barbecued steak, chicken cordon bleu or pasta a la vodka. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. and dinner at 6 p.m.

More golfers are needed. The cost is $150 per golfer, $550 for a foursome, and $640 for a foursome and a tee sign.

If you are not a golfer you can participate in the outing by joining YOM for dinner or by becoming a sponsor for the dinner, lunch, trophies, hole-in-one, raffle prizes, and/or tee signs. There will be trophies and a $5,000 check given to the person who gets a hole in one. Reservations for golf and dinner must be received by Sept. 17. Contributions will be accepted up until the date of the event.

Money raised will help support Nursery/Day Care, Before and After School Child Care Services, and Adult Day Care.

This event is in honor of Lester Smith, a well-known Levittown pharmacist, community activist, and beloved member of many community organizations, who passed away in 1995. Lester and his wife Meta were the owners of Smith Pharmacy, which was recently sold to Rite Aid. Meta once wrote of Lester, "Those of us who are his family, friends, and neighbors are privileged to honor his life, which can best be described in the simple words, 'he cared.'"

YOM has a golf committee working on the details of the event. The agency's honorary golf chairs are County Legislator Dennis Dunne from Levittown and Town of Hempstead Councilwoman Linda Reed.

For reservations or sponsorship forms, contact Diane Shapiro, Developer at YOM, by calling 796-6633 ext. 261.

Everyone is invited to participate in this day of fun in the sun.
