    With the state budget finally being passed, local school districts are able to figure out their final tax rates and budgets and how they will be affected by the amount of state aid they have received. Both Levittown and Island Trees have received more money from the state than they anticipated in their budgets. FULL STORY

    Three Levittown residents are on the Nassau County Board of Elections' ballot for the Nassau County Legislature's 15th District, which includes part of Levittown, Salisbury, and part of Wantagh. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: South Shore Indians Fall Baseball

    The South Shore Indians will be once again sponsoring a Fall Baseball Program. Players will be organized to play on a 13-year-old team, a 14-year-old team, a 15/16-year-old team and a 17/18-year-old team. The ages are determined as of Aug. 1, 2000. All teams will play on 90 ft. bases. The games will be Sunday doubleheaders. The season starts the 12th of September and runs through the first week in November. This fall program and subsequent winter program will be used to select players for our Summer Travel Teams. For tryout dates and information, the 13-year-olds should call John at 731-2693, the 14-year-olds should call Kevin at 826-9889 and the players 15 and up should call Tom at 221-5313. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Division's Fierro Makes All State

    This past July, the New York State Sports Writers came out with their 1999 All New York State baseball team. Division Avenue High School was well represented. Sophomore catcher Eric Fierro was named to the sixth team. Despite being just a sophomore, Fierro displayed outstanding defensive catching skills that enabled him to handle a top flight pitching staff. FULL STORY
