The Levittown Swim Association will hold its 44th Championship Meet on Sunday Aug. 15 at Jerusalem Avenue Pool, on Jerusalem Avenue, just north of Hempstead Turnpike. Over 400 children from the Town of Hempstead and the Town of Oyster Bay Joint Pool District will compete in 56 different swimming events. The Championship will culminate with the awarding of trophies, medals, and ribbons to participants who have distinguished themselves during this meet and the swim season.
Founded by community residents in 1955, LSA is the oldest community based volunteer operated swim organization on Long Island. Without the help of so many generous people with their time and effort to our program, there would not be such a fine organization today. For the first time, the Association will be having a Food Drive in conjunction with the championship meet. All food collected will be donated to the Food Kitchens that operate in the Joint District.
Trials will commence on Saturday, Aug. 14 with a 9 a.m. start time. Championships follow the next day on Sunday, Aug. 15 with a 10 a.m. start time. The meet should conclude somewhere between 1 and 2 p.m. Awards ceremony will take place immediately after the meet.
