Levittown PTA members have taken a lot of unnecessary insults this past year and this week saw one of the people who threw the insult their way arrested for his actions.

A few months ago we reported an incident where a former school board member got up during the Public Be Heard section of a board meeting and called the PTA members shopping bag ladies.

Now, another former school board member, who publicly ridiculed the comments of the former school board member mentioned above, has been arrested for sending anonymous, insulting letters to PTA members and one school board member.

Many of both the current and former school board members have been active in their PTAs so therefore, it seems even more disturbing that two former school board members have decided to target these hardworking individuals, in the so-called name of fun. They, if anyone, should know how much the PTA members do for the district.

While both these former school board members said or did what they did, thinking they were being funny, the people who were hurt by the comments made obviously did not find them the least bit amusing.

The PTAs serve as a channel of communication between school administrators, school boards, and the general public. They, like the school board, have worked very hard, as volunteers, to better the education of their children. Each month there are many PTA members who sit at the school board meetings and either listen to the discussions or raise concerns about Levittown students' educations. From this group several board of education members have been selected, because of their dedication to the students.

It is this hard work and dedication that makes the actions of former school board members, depicting their lack of respect for the PTA members, all the worse.

The members of all the PTAs should be proud of all that they accomplish and should be given the respect that they deserve.
