The standing long jump is definitely a challenge for the Blue Dragons.
|
On June 2, Division Avenue High School Career Development held its annual Blue Dragon Challenge Day. The event was organized by physical education teacher Joan Potter. Potter put a lot of time, hard work and dedication into making this a successful day.
There was an opening ceremony and a speech made by the principal, Dr. Harry Chertok. The groups then broke up into teams by color. They participated in six events such as the standing long jump, stationary kick, softball throw, bean bag toss, 20/40 meter run and the obstacle course. Each team event was scored and tabulated by staff members. This year's winner was the purple team, led by captain Tami Dannacker.
A plaque was presented to Martin Nelson, chair of the Career Development Program. Each year the winning team will be added to commemorate its win. Student volunteers from Division, MacArthur, Salk and Wisdom were assigned to a team or a special needs student. They did an excellent job and each student went home a winner. Ribbons were awarded to every athlete. Thanks go out to all who donated to this special day.
