Salk Middle School's 1998 seventh grade and 1999 eighth grade Girls Basketball team might have been one of the best girls' teams to ever come out of Salk. While in seventh grade, the girls went undefeated with a record of 10-0. In their last year at Salk, the girls had what they considered a disappointment as they were 9-2.

In the seventh grade, the girls were untouchable. They started their season against their hardest opponent, Berner Junior High School, who they beat by one point. This began their undefeated season.

In the eighth grade, the girls were not so lucky. They lost one of their starting point guards, Sharon Daily. They started off the season with a record of 9-0 until they faced Wantagh. Salk lost the first game by one point and in a disappointing second game they lost after a key player fouled out in the fourth quarter. This ended their season with a 9 and 2 record.

The girls had fantastic strengths all over. Half their team was part of the St. Bernard's basketball team and have played together for quite some time. Katie Hennan and Samantha Spinoso controlled the boards while Kristy Abrams and Shannon Hart ran the floor. Leah Mannion, Patti Gancio and Jen Maricondo had a great season as shooting guards.

The Salk Girls Basketball team had a 19-2 overall career.
