The specific purpose of the Parents for Athletes Club is to award scholarships to Island Trees High School student athletes at the Island Trees High School Annual Athletic Awards Banquet.

The organization also recognizes outstanding student athletes at their individual sport during the course of the year. In May, the Parents for Athletes Club presented the Spring Athletes of the Month with a certificate, plaque and a certificate for lunch at Nick's Town and Country Delicatessen.

Athletes who were honored this spring for their enthusiasm and outstanding achievement in his or her sport were: Merari Chacon, badminton; Manuel Lopes, baseball; Jacquelyn Thumhart, kick line; James Sguigna, lacrosse; Jamie Pietrantoni, softball; Jodie Schoppmann, track; and Matthew Hallas, track.
