It was wonderful to see such a wonderful turnout at this past weekend's Memorial Day festivities. Both the fair and the parade received a fantastic community response.
Through these turnouts we see that in fact the community does care and does want to be involved. Hundreds of people lined the streets on Monday to honor the veterans and cheer on the marchers and people poured through the gates at the Chamber of Commerce Fair all weekend long. Whether the attendance was intended to be supportive of the community or not, that was the final result.
As we think about these large community turnouts the possible revote of the budget comes to mind. Will all these community members come out to make their feelings about the budget known? Will everyone who can, vote?
The community can only benefit from a large voter turnout. If everyone who were eligible to vote did, the school district would have an accurate representation of what the community truly wants rather than what select members of the community wants.
Support Levittown in every way possible. It takes less time to go to vote than it does to watch a parade or attend a fair. Keep that in mind if the budget comes up for a revote and take the opportunity to have a say in what the school district does.
