It is common practice, in the local educational environments, for residents to complain about either the school board or the taxes, or in many cases both. Yet it is these same people who often have a hard time making their way to the polling places when school board election and budget vote time comes around.

It is very easy to gripe after the fact about the decisions that were made by a few, but why weren't those decisions made by everyone? School district residents, who are over the age of 18 have the right to vote. It is a right that adults are given and yet so few utilize. If you have that right, why not use it?

This Tuesday school district residents once again have the opportunity to have a say about what happens in their community. Go out and vote for the local school board candidates, even if the elections are uncontested. Vote on the budget, make your voice heard and if you don't like the result, do something next year to change it, even if it means running for the school board yourself.
