As the Wrestling Dual Meet season came to an end, MacArthur's Wrestling team had much to brag about. The Generals surpassed all their team goals and the county's expectations.

Seeded fifth in the conference and not even ranked in Nassau County, the Generals also finished in the second place in Conference II, falling second to #2 in Nassau County Long Beach High School. MacArthur finished with a 5-1 Conference record and an 11-2 overall record.

In the Nassau County Qualifying Tournament, the Generals placed 10 wrestlers. Placing 1-4 and participating in the Nassau County Championships earns a wrestler All League Honors. Another eight wrestlers placed fifth and sixth. Of the 18 wrestlers, 15 will return next season.

Captains Joe Tarallo and Dom Stanco both finished as tournament runners-up. Besides having great individual seasons they also led the young Generals to a great team finish.

In the Nassau County Championships the 10 Generals all wrestled well. The top hopeful, Tarallo, had a finger injury and was unable to compete. Coach Greenblatt felt the young Generals lack of experience hurt the wrestlers. Most of the wrestlers won a few matches and fell just short of placing. Seven of the 10 wrestlers are returning next year and this year's tournament experience will be a huge asset for next year's season.

All League Honors went to Joe Tarallo and Dominic Stanco, seniors who placed second in the qualifying tournament; Mike Delorenzo, Nick Laviano, and Sean O'Donnell, sophomores who placed second in the qualifying tournament; Jon Birsner, a sophomore who placed third in the qualifying tournament; Dan Appleby, a junior who placed fourth in the qualifying tournament; Reno Reitmayr, a sophomore who placed fourth in the qualifying tournament; and Jason Plotkin, a senior who placed fourth in the qualifying tournament.

All League Honorable Mention went to Henry Daverin and Andrew Lentini, sophomores who placed fifth; Frank Zic, a junior who placed fifth; Max Reitmayr, Joey Vasold, and Paul Mazzioti, freshmen who placed fifth; Alex Negron, a sophomore who placed sixth; and James Stouse, a freshman who placed sixth.

Chris Schlesinger, a junior won All County Honors with his fifth place win in the Nassau County Championships.

The MacArthur Wrestling team also won the New York State Scholar Athlete Team Award. This award is given to a team who has a 90 or above average. The top 10 averages of the team apply. The top 10 team average for MacArthur was 92. The top 20 team average was 89.15. This was the third straight year that the MacArthur Wrestling team won this honor.
