Sabrina Levy, a junior at MacArthur High School has been chosen for the Athletic Spotlight for this week.

Levy competed for MacArthur High School as an individual gymnast for the entire winter season, practicing and working out on a daily basis with Farmingdale High School. This is Levy's second season competing in gymnastics as an individual. Last year, as a sophomore, Levy was an All County selection and this year, as a junior, she was an All County selection for a second time. Levy's scores during the season were high enough for her to qualify to compete at the county level. The county meet was held at Wantagh High School on Thursday, Feb. 11 and the girls competing were the most talented that Nassau County had to offer. Levy finished right up there with the best of them, placing second among all the girls who competed with a combined score of 34.725.

Levy scored a 9.25 on the balance beam, good for second place; a 9.1 on the floor exercise, good for third place; an 8.35 on the uneven bars and an 8.025 on the vault. Levy will be one of the chosen few to go up to Fishkill, NY in two weeks to represent Nassau County in the New York State Competition.

When Levy is not working on perfecting her gymnastics she plays the clarinet in her school band, she is a member of the color guard, the Key Club, and the National Honor Society.

Academically, Levy brings her competitive spirit to the classroom as indicated by the 90 average that she had as a freshman and the 92.1 average that she had as a sophomore. It is more than likely that Levy will improve on the 91.3 combined average.

As with all of MacArthur's athletes who are placed in the spotlight, the school is very proud of her and all that she has accomplished in both academics and athletics.

MacArthur knows that Levy will continue to stand out and shine for the next year and a half that she will be at the school and they look forward to having her continue to represent the school and community in such a positive manner.
