Dan Cronin, Joe Dlabola and Kevin Saragossi earned post-season awards and will be honored at the Nassau Basketball Coaches Association dinner and awards night on March 22 at the Marriott Hotel in Uniondale.

Cronin was named to the All-County second team by the coaches in conference 3-B after posting an 18.2 scoring average and 10.8 rebounds per game. He hit for 29 points twice, against Calhoun and Clarke, while getting 28 in the regular season finale against South Side. He also had a rare triple-double, reaching double figures in scoring, rebounding and assists, against Hewlett.

Earlier in the season he was named the Most Valuable Player in the Valley Stream North Spartan Tournament and was also named to the All-Tournament team at the Bethpage Dad's Club Tournament. He had earned All-Conference recognition by the coaches last year.

"Danny's one of the toughest kids I've ever had the pleasure of coaching." exclaimed Coach Don Mackey.

"He's played at various times with a sore back, a jammed big toe and an injured elbow, when other players would have been on the bench," continued his coach. He's never complained about being hurt and always wants to play. The best part is that he's only a junior."

Dlabola earned All-Conference recognition by averaging over 22 points in the Blue Dragons last four games, earning them a playoff spot. His high was 28 against Carey during that stretch, while he also had 10 assists against Great Neck South. For the season he averaged 15.2 points per game with 4.9 assists.

The senior broke the school 3-point shooting mark, held by Junior Varsity Coach Doug Robins, by making 45 this season. He also topped Robins' career mark with 74 threes. His 111 assists left him 11 short of the school record held by Varsity Assistant Chris Aiello. Dlabola was selected to the All-Tournament team at the Valley Stream North Tournament.

"Not only does he have a great shot, but he gets it off quickly," commented coach Mackay, "putting added pressure on the defenses."

Saragossi rejoined the Division program after a year's absence from basketball. His 9.3 scoring average and 7.5 rebounds per game gave them a big lift inside. With Tom Swicicki at 6'4", the only returning player over 6'1", Saragossi, at 6'3" added some additional inside punch as he went on to earn All-Conference honors in his senior year.

"Kevin got into the flow quickly, despite his year off, and made a big impression, first coming off the bench, and then stepping into the starting lineup," said Mackay.
