I have been seeing red ever since I read the article written by Carolan & Keating in Newsday, dated Feb. 16. The article puts the Veterans' Service Agency in a list of departments recommended to be terminated or cut deeply by the authors of the article.

I am infuriated that the most patriotic Americans, the men and women who swore to God that they were willing to die for this country or its way of life, would be considered on any lists for cuts or termination whether it be a long list or short list.

Our veterans left their families, friends, schools, jobs, and everything that they loved and cherished to protect and defend the security of this nation.

I vow that I will never vote for a cut of any kind of benefits to veterans and I call for all veterans to contact their legislators asking them to take the same vow.

The men and women who served in the armed forces of the United States have sacrificed enough and it's about time that all Americans pay them the respect they so rightly deserve.
