After suffering a disappointing loss to New Hyde Park, 74-56, the Division Avenue Blue Dragons came back to defeat Great Neck South 62-61 and H. Frank Carey 61-54 in action last week.

New Hyde Park outscored Division 26-18, including five three pointers in the third quarter to take a comfortable lead that they never lost. Mike Neal's 15 points were tops for the Dragons while Kevin Saragossi chipped in with 12.

A five point lead dwindled to one, but the Rebels from Great Neck South couldn't get off a good shot with nine seconds remaining, as the Dragons moved on for the win. Joe Dlabola and Neal combined to score 18 of the Dragons 22 points in the third quarter to give Division the lead. Dlabola finished with 19 points and 10 assists. Neal added 17 points and Saragossi had 14. Dan Cronin, playing with an elbow injury, was held to six points, but still managed to grab 15 rebounds in limited action.

Despite leading by as much as 12 in the third period, the Dragons couldn't put away a pesky Carey squad. They pulled to within three with 1:50 remaining in the game, but Cronin hit all six of his free throws and Dlabola two to give Division the win. Dlabola's career high 28 points included four three point baskets, while Cronin finished with 18. Senior Tom Swicicki came off the bench to grab 15 rebounds, while Cronin had 13. Freshman Robert Mostacci led Carey with 26 points.

The Dragons finish the playoff quest with tough games against top seeded Westbury and second place South Side. Both teams had defeated the Dragons earlier in the year, but a win against either would increase Division's chances of a playoff berth.
