The YOM Years- From Generation to Generation
This is the first of a weekly column I will be writing for the Levittown Tribune about the Yours, Ours, Mine Community Center, which is in its 34th year of existence. In my position as Developer for YOM I want to thank the Levittown Tribune for the opportunity to inform the community about YOM's services. We are located right in the heart of Levittown. I find that "heart" is the correct word when you mention this town. This community certainly does have heart. . Our address is 152 Center Lane. We are adjacent to Wisdom Lane Middle School.
I have found that when you mention Yours, Ours, Mine Community Center, people seem to recognize the name but the name brings to mind different things. In this column, I would like to explain the programs YOM has to offer. It is quite impressive when you learn about all of the services at the community center. Many of the programs, such as Chemical Dependency, Adult Day Care, and the Nursery are offered on a sliding scale fee basis, paying what you can afford. The agency's Before and After School Child Care Program is on a set fee basis. Giving on a "suggested donation" basis, when appropriate, helps pay for the Senior Nutrition and Family Life/Youth Development Programs.
YOM is a not-for-profit agency serving the residents of Levittown and surrounding communities. The agency's overall purpose is to help improve the quality of life for residents.
One of our goals this year is to bring together our alumni. Where are you? What are you doing now? How has YOM helped you? Which program did you attend? We would like to hear from you. Tell us your success story. It would be helpful if you could write a few words about your feelings toward the community center. We want to develop an alumni list and we would also like to have a get-together and invite you to visit YOM. Please also contact us if you worked here. We are interested in finding out what is going on in your life. We would like to publish some comments from your letters in this column. Send us your name, address, and phone number. There are a large number of "YOMmies" out there. Let us hear from you soon!
YOM is currently awaiting a "facelift" for the exterior and the interior of the facility, which will add to the beautification of the community.
