The seventh grade boys basketball team opened up their season with a victory over Hicksville 49-31. Leading the way for the Bulldogs were Michael Doscher and Kevin Fusci with 13 points each and Anthony DiDomenico with nine points and 11 rebounds. The seventh grade Bulldogs travel to Wantagh for their next game.
The eighth grade boys basketball team traveled to Packard and kept it close the whole game. The team was led by Dondi Peterson who ended up with four points, 12 rebounds, two assists and amazing blocks on the defensive end. The two other big men, Zack Strauss and Fernando Suarez, also had big games by both dominating the board with 12 rebounds each. Chris Bitetto and Rob Giovi took care of the scoring. The two guards both had 11 points and were a big part of the second half comeback. The Bulldogs played great defense the whole game and were able to stop Packard to win the game and start the season 1-0. Next up is Plainview at home. Good luck Dawgs!
The Island Trees eighth grade girls volleyball team had its first match of the season vs. Mattlin. In the first match the girls were down 9-2 before losing 15-13. The Lady Dogs, with a score of 15-4, dominated the second match. The deciding game was another close one in which they lost 15-10. Rebecca Santoriello, who served for seven points in the match, led the team. Heather Rooks, Candace Grosser, Patty Eleazer, Jessica Marciano and Jen D'Albenzio, who served for the winning point in game two, also showed strong play.
