Lately it seems as though the Levittown landscape is ever-changing. As you drive down Hempstead Turnpike, the "Main Street" of Levittown, it seems as though there is another store being torn down or put up every day. While many of these stores are considered to be improvements for the town, many people miss the old days of Dunkin' Donuts, Christmas Trees, and carnivals.

For years residents have been complaining about what an eyesore the empty lot on the corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Wantagh Avenue has become, but now that the land has finally been leased for a Target Shopping Center many residents are fondly recalling the days when the lot was used as a carnival grounds in the summer and a Christmas Tree lot in the winter.

Are these changes improvements? Only time can answer that question, but as you drive down Hempstead Turnpike enjoy the scenery, it may not be there tomorrow.
