Island Trees Is Right on Target
Over the past several years there have been many rumors about the vacant lot on the corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Wantagh Avenue being sold. This past July an application for development of the property was submitted to the Town of Hempstead. Although the plans have not yet been approved by the town, the property has been leased and plans are in motion to open a Target shopping center.

Island Trees Decides on Nine-Period Day
The members of the Island Trees Board of Education voted unanimously at their Dec. 2 meeting to authorize the superintendent, Richard N. Segerdahl, to proceed with the planning of a nine-period day for the 1999-2000 school year.

The seventh grade boys basketball team opened up their season with a victory over Hicksville 49-31. Leading the way for the Bulldogs were Michael Doscher and Kevin Fusci with 13 points each and Anthony DiDomenico with nine points and 11 rebounds. The seventh grade Bulldogs travel to Wantagh for their next game.

CYO Girls Steal Championship
The St. Bernard's CYO girl's senior team capped an undefeated season in 1998 with a thrilling 67-57 triple overtime win over St. Joseph's of Garden City. The team finished 13-0 overall; 9-0 during the regular season, and 4-0 in the playoffs. This victory capped an amazing season which saw these girls win by an average margin of 28 points for the season.
