My husband, Joel Bearman, is reaching 25 years as a member of the Levittown Fire Department and has chosen to run for fire commissioner of the Levittown Fire District.

Joel grew up in Levittown and we are now raising our daughters Jennifer and Michelle here.

Most people of our fire district know Joel as the fireman who brings Freddie the Fire Truck and the Fire Prevention Trailer around to the schools. Joel has always loved teaching fire prevention to all ages, especially children, and Levittown has one of the best Fire Prevention programs in Nassau County.

Joel has served on the chief's staff for the past ten years and has been on many committees during his years in the department.

It seems that most residents are not aware that registered voters of the Levittown Fire District elect the fire commissioner, and that it isn't just the firefighters.

I would like to ask for all eligible voters of the Levittown Fire District to come out to the Gardiners Avenue Firehouse on Tuesday, Dec. 8 and support Joel. We believe he can do an excellent job as fire commissioner, and wants to serve the taxpayers in this capacity.

The polls are open from 4 p.m. through 9 p.m. Please come out and cast your vote for Joel Bearman; he is dedicated to our community.
