After starting the season with a loss, Levittown Red Devil Midget White has come full circle. Midget White (9-2) falls, in a heartbreaking playoff loss at the hands of Seaford Blue with a final score of 12-6.
For the first time in nine games, the opposing team scored first. Seaford managed to do what not many other teams have done all season, score on the first defense. The point after was no good, leaving the score 6-0, Seaford.
After that the game was all defense. The first unit of #14 Adam Swenson, #22 Joey Ciarvino, #77 Brian Meredith, #70 Scott Smath, #72 Sam Braverman, #28 Mark Sniffen, #90 Bobby Forgione, #41 Stanley Griffin, #11 Vinny Panarelli, #15 Bobby Moran, #12 Chris Callahan, #35 Sean Perrone stepped it up and fought hard holding Seaford on several key drives.
Blue's defense was also up to the challenge, making it a tough day for the offensive unit of #51 Alexander Torellis, Braverman, #88 Brendan Cronin, #33 Anthony Hyde, #60 Scott Mathison, #19 Anthony Cuccaro, Forgione, and Ciarvino, the ground attack ran into a lot of brick walls in the first three quarters.
It didn't happen until late in the fourth quarter, but the offense finally opened up some holes. With Seaford up 6-0, #99 Dennis Roach, #50 Alexander Zic, #40 CJ Hargrove, Ciarvino, Panarelli, Swenson, and Griffin helped open up holes as Sniffen came through big time. He exploded up the middle, foiling would be tacklers, going 59 yards for a touchdown, White's first touchdown of the game. White missed on the go ahead point after. The score remained tied at 6 through regulation.
In overtime, Seaford scored on their first possession, but were unable to convert on the point after. Midget White had their chance but still could not get their offense on track. The game ended on the second play of the drive with a turnover.
Midget White finishes a successful season with an impressive 9 and 2 record, one of the best in their division. A special thank you to the coaches, parents, and the great bunch of kids that helped to make this season a success. To celebrate, Midget White will wrap it all up with a pool party December 5 at Echo Park.
