This week's sports spotlight belongs to cheerleader Kelliann Davis. As a senior, Davis is captain of the competitive cheerleading team and co-captain of the varsity football squad. Davis began cheering in seventh grade for St. Bernard Youth Basketball. As a junior in high school, she was a member of Division's first competitive cheering team, which went on to place fifth in the Long Island Championship. Davis was also nominated for the All-American team at camp this summer for her leadership and stunting ability.
Davis is very successful both in and out of school. This year alone, she is vice president of the student council, treasurer of the Honor Society, assistant editor of the newspaper, and editor of the yearbook. Academically, Davis is ranked in the top 15 percent of her class with a 96 average. Last year she was elected the presiding town supervisor for Students in Government Day, and in the last few weeks was nominated for the Principal's Leadership Award Scholarship. Just recently, Davis was voted to be Division Avenue High School's 50th Anniversary Homecoming Queen next to its first King, Brendan Murphy.
