Pee Wee Grey's Defense Too Tough for W. Babylon Jets
Pee Wee Grey extended its winning streak to four on Sunday, by defeating the West Babylon Jets 23-7. The offensive line, led by Matthew Burmeister, Brett Tom, Connor Bickford, Danny Nicolino, John Kreppel, Bobby Barsch, Anthony Villa, and Dennis Lawrence, did an excellent job of blocking, allowing Pee Wee Grey to score three touchdowns in the first half. On the first play of the game Chris Brumber ran for a touchdown, followed by Tommy Celentani running in the extra point to make the score 7-0. West Babylon scored on their next possession, tying up the score at 7 all. Early in the second quarter Jack Lang ran for a 38 yard touchdown and then Lang kicked for two more points bringing Pee Wee Grey ahead 15-7. Late in the second quarter Brumber ran the ball in for his second touchdown and Lang was successful with his second kick, bringing the score to 23-7.
In the second half, Pee Wee Grey's defense, including Dominique Alexander, Tommy Celentani, Michael Cheshire, David Williams, Ronnie Modik, Chris Celentani, and Travis Hahn, was outstanding and held West Babylon scoreless.
Congratulations to Dominique Alexander on a great interception; Michael Cheshire for a fumble recovery; and the secondaries Frankie D'Elia, Chris Pesce, and Dominique Alexander for awesome pass coverage.
Friday night Pee Wee Grey hosts Plainedge when they will try to extend their streak to five. GO GREY!
Friday, Sept. 25, the Levittown Senior Red Devils took a hard loss to the Copiague Eagles by a score of 30-20.
Great catches by Marx made it hard for Copiague to stop the passing game, including a touchdown catch. Binick and Copabianco threw a total of three touchdowns. Great running and blocking by Agusta Robinson and Paul Wyzngenski.
On defense, Vasquez and Kellner pressured the quarterback, making him throw bad passes. Great tackles and defense by Murphy, Ginobbi, Albert, and Marra added to a great defense team. It was a hard fought game but the Devils came up short. Good luck next week.
