Levittown Board Approves Food Service and Sets Tax Levy
At a special meeting on July 15, the Levittown Board of Education adopted a resolution setting the tax levy for the 1998-99 school year. A tax levy of $53,445,779 was set for school purposes pursuant to voter approval of the school budget on May 19, 1998. The resolution also set a tax levy of $3,186,823 pursuant to the approval of the Library budget vote on April 2, 1998 by district voters, and pursuant to New York State statutes which requires school districts to set the tax levy for libraries. At this meeting the board also approved a change order for window replacement projects being completed under the bond issue. Lastly, at this Special Meeting, the board of education approved a bid appointing a food service contractor for the school lunch program for the 1998-99 school year. The food service contract was awarded to Whitsons, which has held the contract for the last five years.

The Island Trees School District provides children in the district with a place to go during the summer where they can have fun learning. Some of the programs that the district offers is the YES Program, the Summer Music Program, and a Summer Sports Camp.
