Last week the Division Varsity Baseball team lost to Mineola 3-2.

Mike Pelcher pitched for Division, allowing only three hits, while striking out 10 batters in only five innings.

Division was losing 3-2 with a man on second, with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. Joe Laudiso was the batter and had a 0-2 count, and rocked the next pitch to dead centerfield for a two run homer. This gave Division a 4-3 lead. The game was called on darkness so Mineola never got to bat in the bottom of the sixth, so the game reverted back to the 3-2 score after five innings.

Division opened its league season with a 15-0 victory over Roosevelt. Mike Pelcher was the winning pitcher, hurling a no-hitter and striking out 15 batters in six innings.

Division's offense was led by four homers; Eric Lineman, Steve Juliano, and Phil Hoach all hit two-run homers, while Joe Laudisio hit a grand slam homer.

Dragons, who had two hits were Alex Muniz, Steve Oliver, Sal Pisapia, and Joe Laudiso.

Division played its second cross-over league game against Manhasset and defeated them 8-1. Chris Flinn was the winning pitcher, allowing no runs, and three hits, while accumulating 13 strikeouts in the six innings he pitched.

Division drew first blood, scoring five runs in the first inning. Steve Oliver knocked in Division's first two runs. Joe Woods followed with an RBI single and Joe Laudisio had a two run double.

In the third inning Kevin Martin blasted a monster solo homer. In the fourth inning Jason Schneider hit a line drive, two-run single to cap off the scoring for Division.

In the final game of the week Division beat Jericho 14-1. Junior, Ryan Darcy got his first varsity win offensively. Steve Oliver led the team with three hits. Jason Schneider added a monster grand slam homer. Kevin Martin had three runs batted in and Steve Juliano had two runs batted in.

Next week Division has only one game- Tuesday, April 14, at Port Washington, at 4 p.m.
