My husband Joe was the first one to pass away on Oct. 9, 1997. He was one of three gentleman who worked at the Levittown Water District in the '50s before the Town of Hempstead took over.

Charlie Saurer was the first mailman to deliver our mail in the Flower section. The men were trucked in and dropped off at their route; they came from the Hicksville Post Office. Joe and he became good friends. Charlie passed away on Feb. 1, 1998.

Harry Peck and Joe became friends for a short time. They both had Alzheimer's disease and met at the Day Care Center in Hicksville. Harry passed away Feb. 23, 1998.

I hope you all meet in Heaven and have a beer and say, "We made it."

Marie A. Champney, of Levittown, died on March 10, 1998. Wife of the late Clarkson J. Mother of Clark, Patty Bevacqua, Dennis, Barry, Clinton and Ann Marie. Sister of Amelia Hoffmann and Philip Riscica and the late Eugene Riggs. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home, Farmingdale. Funeral Mass at St. Bernard's RC Church. Interment Plain Lawn Cemetery.
