Division Cheerleaders Take 5th at Competition

On Saturday, Jan. 10, the Division Ave. cheerleaders competed for the very first time at Holy Trinity High School. The competition was sponsored by LICCA (Long Island Cheerleading Coaches Association).

The team is coached by Michele Ortiz and Tara Liquori. The members are: Desiree Anderson, Elizabeth Cascio, Juliet Garavelli, Jaime Harris, Christin Mongelli, Kelly Perno (seniors), Jackie Abate, Kelliann Davis (juniors), Allison Mongelli, Melissa To, Susan White (sophomores), Tara Boneillo, Erin Brezski, Amanda Costello, Marissa LaVoie, Meghan Lynch, Katie Oliveri (freshmen).

The girls placed fifth in the competition, bringing home a trophy and qualifying for finals on March 1 in Riverhead. The team competed in the large varsity division. The team placed above schools such as Kings Park, Herricks and Syosset. The ladies are extremely pleased with their victory and even more motivated to do better in the next couple of competitions.

The team will compete on Jan. 24 at Sayville HS, Jan. 31 at Northport HS and on Feb. 8 at Bayshore HS. Come out and support the team. Crowd participation is part of the score. Thank you to those who were at Holy Trinity to cheer us on.
