Like the football players they support, the Levittown Red Devil cheerleaders have been strong competitors this season.
The cheerers have taken several finalist awards in competitions throughout Nassau and Suffolk, in events that encompass athleticism, coordination, spirit, gymnastics, multi-level mounts and dance in the older divisions.
The 7-year-olds took second place in the Plainedge tournament. The 8 year olds took first place in the West Babylon meet, second place at the Nassau/Suffolk Cheerleading Association (NSCA) and third place at the Long Island Cheerleading Association (LICA).
The 9-year-olds took third place in the Plainedge tournament and second place in the LICA tournament. The 10-year-olds took second place at both Plainedge and NSCA.
The 11-year-olds took first place in the West Babylon tournament and first place in NSCA in both the cheer and dance categories. And the 12-year-olds took second place in the Plainedge tournament, first place in the NSCA for cheer and second place for NSCA dance, and first place in the LICA.
And the 13-and-14-year-old seniors took first place in both North Babylon and NSCA.
