Noreen Duffy, once a fixture in the blue of the Division Avenue Lady Dragons, is entering her second year wearing the blue and gold of Hofstra.
Duffy is a sophomore guard for the Flying Dutchwomen. The 5 ft. 8 netwoman came off the bench in 25 games last year. She scored 17 points in her second career Dutchwomen game, against Lehigh, and led the team with 14 points in the Monmouth match. She finished the year with 85 points and 22 rebounds.
A basketball player since age 12, Duffy played four years of basketball, three years of softball and two years of volleyball and soccer at Division, where she made the USA Today Honorable Mention All-American. Last year, she led the Lady Dragons to the first undefeated season (17-0) in school history. She was named all-Long Island by Newsday as a junior and senior, and was a three-time all-County selection.
Duffy holds Division's career record in points (1,251) and free-throw percentage (92 percent), and also holds the Lady Dragon mark for most points in the season. As a senior, Duffy averaged 21.1 points, 12.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 8.5 steals as a senior. Two years ago, she was named to the Long Island Sports Academic All-Long Island second team. At Division, Duffy was also a member of the National Honor Society.
