Low Cost Flu Vaccines

Offered by Nassau County Medical Center, 2201 Hempstead Tpke., East Meadow, for NC residents age 18 to 59 through Dec. 19. This program, which takes place on the campus of the medical center, will be in addition to one providing free flu vaccines for senior citizens at 84 sites throughout NC. Cost is $15 payable by cash or check. It is not necessary to make an appointment. The low-cost vaccines will be at the following locations and times:

Free Healthwalk/Racewalk Classes and Workouts

Classes offered by the New York Walkers Club free of charge. Learn techniques in healthwalking and racewalking. Classes are held on Saturdays in front of the Field House in Eisenhower Park, East Meadow at 8 a.m. Following class, members take part in group workouts, according to ability. Levittown P.A.C.T. Groups

Nassau County Medical Center Needs Volunteers

The Auxiliary Dept. at NCMC needs volunteers in the gift shop, at the information desk and as greeters in the lobby for a new program which will be initiated in the Security Dept. Anyone interested should be 14 years of-age or older and must make a commitment to come in at least three hours per week. A physical is required prior to acceptance. Although they will be placed according to need, the auxiliary makes an effort to match volunteers' interests and skill with their assigned jobs. Call NCMC's Auxiliary Dept. 572-6588.

Santa's Mailbox

Children can send their Christmas lists directly to old St. Nick at the North Pole via a special mailbox. Letters to Santa deposited by Dec. 19 will receive a Santa-Gram from the North Pole, assisted by Santa's elves at the Parks Department. No postage is necessary for Santa letters. Be sure to include name and address. A colorful red mailbox will be at the administration building at Eisenhower Park, East Meadow beginning Nov. 28.
