The Grand Opening / Ribbon Cutting ceremony for Wal-Mart, will be held on July 8 at 7:30 a.m. at 3335 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown.
On July 10, from 10 a.m. to noon, the Community Office of Senator Kemp Hannon will visit the Levittown Library and bring materials that may be of interest to the public. The Levittown Community Council’s annual Lazy Days of Summer Picnic will be held at the East Village Green on Jerusalem Avenue on July 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hicksville’s 11th Annual Summer Street Fair will be held on July 21 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Kennedy Park, Route 107 and Jerusalem Avenue.
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, at 3434 Hempstead Turnpike will hold its Vacation Bible School Kingdom Rock from August 12 through 16, in two sessions. The first session will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Who says you have to travel into Manhattan for a fun-filled evening of delicious food and drink? YES Community Counseling Center hosted its 7th Annual “A Taste of the Town”, featuring many of the South Shore’s finest culinary establishments. All proceeds from the event benefited YES, a non-profit community-based organization providing services to children and families in the community.

With six second half goals, the Farmingdale State Rams men’s soccer team picked up a 6-0 conference victory over the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons on Oct. 11, to improve to 5-8-1 overall, 2-2-1 in the Skyline. The visiting Gryphons fell to 2-9, 0-5 in conference play.
