The NHP Lady Pumas went undefeated en route to a very much deserved First Place finish in the Premiere A-Division of the Commack Memorial Day Tournament. The girls faced very stiff competition as the HBC opponent featured several ‘ringers’ from GCP, the GC Strikers are very formidable, and Commack is a top notch Div 1 Suffolk Team. The girls made it very exciting by building leads and then watching them evaporate - making several games high scoring nail-biters.
The NHP offense was led by Izzy Glennon (8 goals, 1 assist), Katie Krems (5 goals), Cara Becker (3 goals, 2 assists), Sophie Leeds (1 goal, 1 assist), Casey Sanders (1 goal, 2 assists) and Clare Iriarte (1 goal), who collectively went on a scoring rampage. The Defense of Mackenzie Griffin, Theodora Papadoniou (1 goal), Isabel Ugolini, and Kira Crehan was simply fantastic, with each surfing and tracking back very well. In goal was Edna Dudek (15 saves in 6 halves of play) and Casey Sanders (5 saves in 2 halves), and Sophia Leeds (4 saves in 1 halve) - who each played rock solid. Casey Sanders gets special kudos for that finger tip save to secure the win in the final seconds of the Garden City match. Fantastic playing, ladies - keep Up The Good Work!
