Braves vs. Padres, May 3

The Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padres took on Dominick’s Deli Braves on a sun-drenched Sunday afternoon. Hunter Dunn, Jake Gruosso, and Julian Dewitte laced three straight singles to start the home first for the well-oiled Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padre machine. Solid hits were contributed by Thomas Vieni, Trevor Boshnack, and Ben Harnick. Michael O’Grady clobbered the second Padre double of 2013 into left center. In the field Stephen Coffey, Chris Erxelben, and Stephen Lopez provided amazing glove work. 

 

Dodgers vs. Padres, May 4

The Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padres had a spirited rematch against the Virgilio Chiropractic Dodgers. Both teams were much improved from their initial matchup on opening day. The Padres were led by Jake Gruosso, Christian Thomas, Chris Erxleben, and Harekam Singh with three hits apiece. Hunter Dunn chipped in with 3 RBI. Anthony Strocchia and Ben Harnick showed great smarts on the base paths and Trevor Boshnack and Michael O’Grady made great stops on defense. It was “Stephen Night” at the ballpark, as the two Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padre Stephens turned in bobblehead-day-worthy performances. On defense Stephen Coffey turned an unassisted double play and offensively Stephen Lopez crushed two doubles and drove in three runs. 

 

Cardinals vs. Dodgers, May 4 

Halfway through the season and the Cardinals are proving to be great ball players. Good teamwork and hustling on the field were displayed by Bella Morales, Sara Guira, Kaylin Beckmann, Noelani Maund, Prescilla Ferri and Alexa Stec with Lauren Zamora playing first base.

 

Rays vs. Rangers, May 4

In a week that only eight players were able to attend, the Panera Bread Rays held their ground against the powerful Newman Orthodontics Rangers. It was a magnificent display of hitting and fielding by all the boys. Some standouts were Nicholas Christofidis, Sebastian Hansman, John Wozniak and Anay Patel.

 

Reds vs. White Sox, May 1

Game 8 of the season saw the Notre Dame CYO Sports Merillon Reds take on the Great Neck White Sox. Daniel Goldberg and Jared Puntus led the charge for the Little Red Machine, combining for a no-hitter. Final score Reds-13, White Sox-0. The Reds raised their record to 8-0 on the season.

 

In addition to striking out five to close out the victory, Puntus collected a hit, stole a base and scored a run. Daniel had two hits, stole two bases, including home, and scored two runs. He also pitched 3 2/3 flawless innings, fanning seven. Rayhan Kahn belted his second home run of the season driving in two runs.

 

Ben Goodwin stole two bases and scored two runs. Adrian Balkcom cracked another home run, doubled, drove in and scored a run. Stephen Perno smacked a double, driving in two runs, stole a base and scored a run. Demetris Panouis stole three bases, singled to drive in two runs and scored a run. Martin Lev took some mighty hacks at the plate. Jack Nathan made a dazzling play at first base to rob a hit that would have broke up the no hitter.

 

Christian Zamora had his best game of the season, driving in a run, stealing a base and scoring a run. Michael Castelli legged out a single and drove in a run with his quick bat and hustle.

 

Tyler Silverstein singled, stole a base, drove in and scored a run. Paul Depaulis scored a run and was solid behind the plate an unassisted double play at first base. A.J. DeVito collected another hit and drove in a run.
