In a game that exhibited solid pitching the Merillon Patriots came out on top with a 4-3 win. All of our runs were scored by HRs. John Young hit HRs in the 1st and 5th innings, Ross Crames in the 1st and Liam Slattery in the 4th inning. Although the boys were hitting the ball well Albertson-Herricks were making outstanding fielding plays. Matt Theodorpoulos, Vincent Patrey, Evan Clark all had base hits. All Patriots turned in excellent defense as no errors were made. Infielders converted all balls hit their way and the outfielders backup the infield plays when required.
The Patriots came out smoking tonight. In the 1st inning Ross Crames smacked a HR to left field scoring Vinny Patrey & John Young whom had both singled. Brennan Scanlon continued the inning when he singled and Liam Slattery followed up with a blast off the right centerfield scoreboard. At the end of the inning it was 5-0. The Patriots scored another 3 runs in the 2nd inning when Matt Theodorpoulos led off with a double between the left and center fielders, Frank DiSanto hit a hard single and John Young HRed to leftfield. Brennan Scanlon pitched a solid game. He struck out 7 PW players in the 3 innings he pitched. Dylan Forrester who pitched a 1-2-3 fourth inning doubled home Scanlon who had singled & Jonathan Cioffi who had walked. The game was won when Cioffi slid under the tag by the catcher. Evan Clark, who took 2 shots to the head today, continues to demonstrate his masterful catching skills behind home plate. Kyle Facibene and Brandon Martinez played solid defense.
