As a Town of North Hempstead councilwoman, I am writing to you on behalf of the many constituents and groups, who over the past few months, have contacted me regarding the increased aircraft traffic and noise. In addition, they have also notified our 311 call center about aircraft flying at very low altitudes more frequently, often over hospitals, schools, as well as residences.
It is imperative, prior to the Next-Gen program being implemented, that the FAA conduct environmental impact studies that show the effects of these increased routes on the North Hempstead community. I am very concerned about the additional routes impacting the quality of life in our town.
I will continue to speak with members of the community as well as our various government representatives about this issue.
Clearly, this is a critical matter that needs environmental study and continuing scrutiny.
I thank you for your attention to this difficult issue.
North Hempstead Town Councilwoman, Lee R. Seeman
