We have been busy in the district with continued training in the Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching which will be used as the teacher evaluation tool for all staff in September of 2012. Teachers continue to meet and discuss the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts & Mathematics. New York State will be deciding next year as to whether they will continue their own state testing system or adapt the consortium assessment called PARC (Partners for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers).
Students and teachers are busy preparing for their Christmas Concerts which will be presented on the following dates:
Hillside Grade School – December 1 at 7 p.m.
Garden City Park School - December 5 at 7 p.m.
NHP Road School – December 6 at 7 p.m.
Manor Oaks School – December 7 at 7:00 p.m.
We urge the public to attend any or all of our holiday concerts. Students and teachers through the efforts and coordination of the student governments are busy with various service projects to assist the needy over this holiday season.
Dr. Brodeur, our New Hyde Park Director of Pupil Personnel Services, held his first SEPTA planning meeting and had 57 people in attendance. He will now be meeting with his steering committee to establish future plans and an executive board.
The last two items on the superintendent’s report pertain to a Tax Cap Presentation and School Board Recognition. I would also like to take this opportunity to ask the new Superintendent for the Sewanhaka Central High School District, Dr. Ralph Ferrie, to introduce himself and say a few words.
