I hope all enjoyed their Holiday celebrations and enjoyed some sunny weather.
Our library’s summer reading program has begun. Contact the library for further information on their great programs planned for the summer. Swimming lessons at the pool have begun also. Please stop by the Pool office for schedules and further information.
On July 15 at 8 p.m. the village will again sponsor our annual NASSAU POPS concert at Cross Street School field. In case of rain, it will be held inside Cross Street School.
We said farewell to P.O. Dockswell, who has been reassigned due to budget cuts in the county. We will be sharing a “POP” officer from the 3rd Precinct with a few other communities. We look forward to working with him and wish P.O. Dockswell the best of luck.
The Neighborhood Watch program continues and we invite residents to get involved. Please contact trustee Darmstadt for further info on the neighborhood watch program.
All residents were sent a copy of the holiday garbage schedule. It is also available online. It is your responsibility to follow our village regulations and schedule. There were many phone calls to Village Hall from people not aware that there was a holiday schedule in effect for last week, complaining and wondering why their garbage was not picked up. Please be aware of your village’s schedule. You may also obtain a copy of the holiday garbage schedule at village hall.
We are awaiting final approval on our latest road project. Residents will be notified when the work will begin.
A reminder for our residents and pool patrons: Please be respectful and careful when leaving and entering the Broad Street gate to our pool. This is a residential street with your neighbors living here. I ask that you proceed SLOWLY and cautiously into the gates at this entrance. There is no room for two autos to proceed through at once, so some common sense and courtesy is needed.
There are also families and kids that walk and bike ride through these gates as well as kids playing at the homes right outside the pool gates, and although we have had no serious occurrences, there have been some vehicles damaged due to accidents at this location. I urge you to slow down at this gate and proceed cautiously, watching for pedestrians and other autos. The local precinct has been notified of residents’ complaints at this location and it will be monitored with summonses issued for any offenses.
BE SAFE, NOT SORRY!
There have also been recent complaints to village hall in regard to neighbors blocking each other’s driveways. Again, let’s be considerate to our neighbors and take some time to pay attention. Blocking the sidewalk with your car is also illegal and unsafe to pedestrians.
Our next Village of Williston Park Board meeting will be on Monday July 20 at 8 p.m.
Please be careful when driving around town and follow all posted signs. Slow down and please stop fully at stop signs.
