Good Luck to our good friend, former Mayor Jack Martins, as he begins his first term as our New York State Senator.
It’s been a slow, quiet week, although another snowstorm is predicted for tomorrow. Let’s hope it doesn’t materialize, as our resources have been stretched quite a bit. But if it does snow, now or in the future, please remember to drive safely and remove your cars from the village streets.
This past Saturday I was invited to attend the first meeting of the Welcoming Committee held with new residents. I believe that this event will be reported elsewhere in this paper, but I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the committee for their hard work. Trustee Barbara Alagna, along with committee members Rae Caramanica, MaryAnn McDermott, Doreen Ehrbar, Arlene Umlauf, and Marylyn Wotruba did a fantastic job throughout the process of establishing a new resident packet and hosting a Saturday meet and greet.
A few calls have been received from Neighborhood Watch Block Captains regarding procedures when confronted with a suspicious situation. All residents, including Neighborhood Watch Block Captains should immediately contact 911 if they become suspicious of activity in their area. After notifying 911, then that person should take the next step, and contact their Block Captain to pass along the information.
I have to apologize to former Williston Park Trustee Kevin Dunn for misspelling his name in last week’s article.
To all long suffering JET fans, I feel your pain!
