Long Island Children’s Museum, from now through May 6, will celebrate the mystery and intrigue of the Mayan empire in a unique and interesting way in honor of the museum’s visiting exhibit The Mystery of the Mayan Medallion. This is chance for those in attendance to discover the fascinating contributions made by the Mayan civilization in math, science, art and history. Learn about the Mayan people, culture and events through hands-on activities, food and storytelling. This event is made possible with the support of the New York Council for the Humanities. All ages. Free with museum admission. All activities will be held at the Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City, Children must be accompanied by an adult. The Gladiator Fund will hold its 23rd Annual Fundraiser/Dinner Dance at The Inn, 214 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park from 7 p.m. until midnight. The New Hyde Park Little League Annual Parade will step off at 10 a.m. from the corner of Jericho Turnpike and Leonard Boulevard. The parade will then head west to Covert Avenue and south on Covert Avenue to Stewart Avenue and the New Hyde Park Village owned Nuzzi Field where the traditional ceremonies of opening day will be held. This usually includes the throwing out of the first ball, performed by New Hyde Park Village Mayor Daniel Petruccio.
