Kitkats vs. Little Neck Red Devils
The Kitkats pulled one out of their bag of tricks and edged out a 1-0 victory vs. a physical and strong defensive Little Neck squad.
The Kitkats own defenders Ashley Vicente, Brittany Apuzza, Katya Keblish, Laura Roantree, Annie Werner, and goaltenders Hannah Werner and Sarahelena Barrios made every play needed to keep the ball out of their net. Tara Sirotkin and Stephanie Klar played both ends of the field helping defensively and providing offensive sparks. Catherine Lyons, Gabrilela Santoli, Catherine "Kitty " Saketos, Gaby Berger and Daniella Macedo attacked the determined and unyielding Red Devil defense. Stephanie Klar would not be denied and persevered to finally break through the defense for the hard fought game winner. Although the game was not a pretty one on this windy and bone chilling day the Kitkats left the field happy to have procured 3 valuable points. Keep on kickin'Kitkats!!!!
NHP - 2, Syosset - 0
Super effort by the Major team on Saturday with a tidy 2-0 against an always competitive Syosset squad. Kaitlyn Krems got us going with a left-footed goal off a nice feed from Sophia Leeds to make it 1-0 about half way thru the first half. Tiffany Velin ran extremely well today and Casey Sanders netted our final goal when she bull-rushed the goalie and deflected one back into goal of a clearing attempt.. Sophie Leeds was superb distributing the ball from the middle and had an assist. The defense was rock solid today, led by Theodora Papadoiou, Stephanie Karczewski, Isabel Ugolini, Kira Crehan, and Logan Ward (1 assist) who each cleared the ball very well. In goal was Edna Dudek who stopped everything that Syosset threw at her and recorded the much deserved shut out. Great passing today, super distribution of the ball, and everyone played very well. The girls are 2-1 to start the Pre-Travel Major Div season.
NHP-2, Wantagh -2
NHP opened the scoring several minutes into the game, thanks to Dylan Sanders' pass to Marisa Menist who went near post to beat the goalie. Mackenzie Griffin knotted the score at two with a well place shot from just outside the penalty box ten minutes in the second half. Lauren Perlman, Cara Becker, and Deirdre Lynch did well to keep the pressure in the Wantagh zone. Jordan Siegel added much offensive pressure throughout the first half. Olivia Lugo & Siobhan McMullan turned in good games anchoring the central defensive position and the central midfield slot. The quartet of Olivia, Mackenzie, Siobhan, and Shayna Zetilin did a real solid job minding the net. Good stuff ladies.
lightning -4, Cubs -3
In a high scoring affair which featured several lead changes, the Lighting took on the always tough Cubbies to open the Spring Intramural Season. Sophia Leeds (2 assists), Cara Becker and Deirdre Lynch did a super job of crossing the ball to the opposite side, while taking several shots that just missed. Kaitlyn Krems was the offensive juggernaut, 'waking up' in the second half to net 4 almost identical goals, high and hard far post from the right side. Lauren Perlman, Bethany Ambrosio and Isabel Ugolini were rock-solid on D and set up 2 of the 4 goals. In the net were Shayna Zeitlin and Cara Becker who did well to clear the ball and preserve the lead. Super way to open the season with a very competitive game! Great job by both teams.Lightning 4 vs Cubs 3 The Cubs took on the Lightning today for the first game of the season on a beautiful breezy like day. The Cubs team was hard at work both offensively and defensively. Olivia Lugo played nicely in goal first half with Casey Sanders playing sweeper braking up most of the offensive runs. Kasey Bourdas, Marissa Cronin, Dylan Sanders, and Jordyn Siegel provided most of the defensive support. With the Lightning taking an early lead Siobhan McMullan powered the offense in the midfield found herself in front of the Lightning goal slammed a ball into the back of the net to even the score in the first half at one apiece. In the second half the Cubs were keeping the game very close and exciting with Marisa Menist kicking a loose ball over the head of the goalie to keep the game tied up at two all at this point. Then Kira Crehan powered her way through the lightning defense off an inbound pass for a quick goal to tie the game back up to three all. With the Lightning only scorer scoring her forth goal of the day the cubs just couldn't find anymore time in the game to muster up another goal. Great exciting game for the first game of the season by the Cubs. U-9
The Panthers and Lady Tigers squared off on opening weekend in what turned out to be a highly competitive game. The Panthers defense lead by Hannah Dienstag, Julia Kosinski, Celine Macura and Ally Petricca did a tremendous job of keeping the potent Lady Tigers offense away from the Panthers goal. Tiffany Velin opened up the scoring on a penalty kick late in the first half. Just before the halftime break, the Lady Tigers took the ball deep into Panther territory, but thanks to two diving saves by Panther goalie Edna Dudek, the Panthers held onto the lead. The Lady Tigers tied the score midway through the second half of play, but the Panthers came storming back. On defense, Ciara Lennon passed the ball to Natalie Giordano, who fed the ball to Mackenzie Griffin, who in turn took the ball down the center of the field. Tiffany Velin scored her second goal of the day, which gave the Panthers the lead once again. Late in the game the Lady Tigers tied the score once again, ending the game in a tie. Both teams really did a great job of hustling all day and treated all in attendance to one of the more memorable opening days in recent WildCat history

Volcanos 4 vs. Yankees 2

John Tagios opened the scoring for the Yankees with a clean take away and a strong shot from point blank range. The offense had several good scoring opportunities, by Nicholas Tagios, Christopher Carbone, and Joseph Judge, but just missed putting the ball into the goal. NHP Cougars 0 vs. Freeport Red Bulls 4
The New Hyde Park Cougars took the field on a bright sunny day versus the Freeport Red Bulls. The Cougars suffered a tough 4-0 loss to the Red Bulls. Thank you to Scott LaMarca for stepping up and volunteering to play goal. Yovan Kumar (playing injured from last week), Michael Zornberg, Lorenzo Ugarte, and Rinki Hirabayashi held the defensive end. Steve Sumba, Dominick Rossi, Matthew Sartoris, and Rohit Basu commanded our midfield. Keita Wantanabe, and Anthony DiMarco led the offense. Once again the boys played with heart but unfortunately had no subs. Being a newly formed team, the Cougars are still learning to make it work. We as coaches and parents commend the boys on their play.
