The 200-yard Medley Relay team of Olivia Chan, Susan Nugent, Kerrie Kolackovsky, and Alissa Leung, achieved second place at the State Championships in Buffalo in November for the Sewanhaka District Girls Swim Team. Their time of 1:49.30 was an Automatic All-American time and set a new Nassau County record. The team placed fourth overall in the State Championships. It was the highest placement of any Long Island team. Newsday named the team one of the top 10 teams of all Long Island sports in December.
Susan Nugent, a senior at New Hyde Park Memorial High School and team captain, was named Scholastic All-American for the second time. She was one of three current high school swimmers selected Scholastic All-American from Long Island. Susan will swim in the Atlantic 10 Conference for the University of Rhode Island in the fall.
Kerrie Kolackovsky, a junior at HF Carey High School, was named the Most Outstanding swimmer at the County Championships in November, where she was county champion in the 100-yard Breaststroke and 200-yard Individual Medley. She came in third at the State Championships in the 100-yard Breaststroke with an Automatic All-American time and County Record time of 1:04.41. She was also named to the Newsday All-Long Island Swim Team.
Alissa Leung, a sophomore at HF Carey High School, was the County Champion in the 100-yard Backstroke and placed sixth in the State Championships in that event.
Olivia Chan, an eighth-grader at New Hyde Park Memorial High School, won both the 100-yard and 50-yard Freestyle Events at the County Championships and established new county records in both events. Olivia swam an All-American Consideration time of 1:05.82 in the 100-yard Breaststroke at the State Championships. She was also named to the Newsday All-Long Island Swim Team.
All Sewanhaka District Swim Team Records are currently held by one of these girls.
