Recently, Hooves for the Holidays took place at the Sands Point Preserve. Open to children with autism and their families, this was a kickoff event for Hooves for Hope which is a program that will serve the child with autism along with the child's entire family. The purpose of this event was to provide support, education, and equine-assisted riding.

Hooves for the Holidays was hosted by the founders of the Sonny Garguilo Riding Center for Kids, and co-sponsored by The Elija Foundation. Sonny Garguilo, CEO, a natural horseman and real "horse whisperer," and Johnny Ferrara, executive director, were on hand to see the smiling children as they were taken on their pony rides. Leslie Gross, town clerk, and Louise Fishman, executive director of business & tourism were also present. With the incidence of autism at a staggering one in 150 children, Hooves for Hope is a valuable program that will benefit many. Logo
