July 7

Merillon 9 yr All-Stars 7 Vs. Massapequa Coast 1

The 9 yr olds got off to a good start beating Mass Coast 7 to 1. A game that saw all 13 players chip in to the victory. The pitchers gave up 1 run on 3 hits; Vincent Rossello picked up the win, Thomas Murphy got the save as Greg Haynes and Greg Donovan added scoreless innings. Merillon's offense had 5 hits led by Matthew Vowinkel's hard hit double, Yanni Rigos, CJ Carrick and Nick Mangia who all had hits, Matt O'Connor reached base 2 times and Matty Lorandini hit into a hard out. The RBIs came from Brendan Quinn, Anthony Lanzilotta and Peter Restivo. The team ran the bases well and made all the plays on the field.

July 14

Merillon 9 yr All-Stars 12 Vs. Manhasset 2

The 9 yr olds continued their strong play with hard hitting coming from all; CJ Carrick hit a grand slam, Yanni Rigos had 2 doubles and 1 triple, Brendan Quinn had 1 double and 1 triple and Gregory Haynes had a double and a single. Matt O'Connor was on base all 4 times, Greg Donovan and Thomas Murphy also got on 4 times, Matt Vowinkel reached base 3 times and Matt Lorandini was on base 2 times. The pitching was also strong; Anthony Lanzilotta, Vincent Rossello, Peter Restivo and Nick Mangia all pitched 1 good inning. The base running was good and the defense turned in an unusual double play; force at second and a tag at third.

July 16

Broadway Plaza Hotel "Mets" Vs. The First Med Urgent Medical "Yankees"

The Mets played a spit squad game against the Yanks. Christopher Piccirillo, Alex Lacerra and Joseph Griffin each scored 3 runs. Vince Montoni went 3 for 3 while Alessandro Gullo and Alex Banks went 2 for 4. Bailey Lee had 2 for 3 and Matt Morales caught two innings behind the plate.

In the Mets other split squad game, Christopher Carbone and Patrick McTiernan each went 4 for 5. Luke Tesoriero, Matthew O'Neill and Nicholas Barry had 3 for 4. Michael O'Neill slugged out a 3 for 5 while Frankie Stigliano drove in 3 runs.

The First Med Urgent Medical "Yankees" Vs. Broadway Plaza Hotel "Met's"

The Yankees defense struggled at first but by the 3rd inning they were making excellent defensive play's. Eric Madenberg played a spectacular first base and went 4 for 4 at the plate. Jake Blancher and Raymond Gresalfi also helped the Yankees offensively by both going 4 for 4.

The Yankees outlasted the Met's Wednesday in the second split squad game of the night Dean & Danny McClellan combined for 7 hits and 5 runs scored. Joe Dampman went 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored. Chris Issac got 2 hits in his little league debut and Daniel Bateman contributed 3 hits and played find defense. Matt Schulz got 3 hits and played stellar defense at first base.

Juniors

July 15

Gigi Italian Restaurant "Pride" Vs. Mineola "Team #2"

The Pride ran away with this one 18 - 2. The Pride was flawless in the field with minimal chances due to the strong pitching performances of, David Luchino (2 innings, 4 K's); Alex Taffet (2 innings, 5 K's); and John Fitzgerald (1 inning, 3 K's). Strong hitting by Steve Curran (2 for 3, double); Matt Dillon (2 for 3, walk & 2 doubles); Harrison Marder (2 walks, 2 runs scored, single); Mario Lacerra (2 for 4, 2 walks, 2 singles) & Chris Theodoropoulos (4 walks). Defensively we had Brian Hartigan, John Mahon, Chris Dluginski & Lee Schwartz who were flashing the leather.

July 17

Gigi Italian Restaurant "Pride" Vs. Mineola "Team #1"

This was a close game 3 - 0 until the Pride opened it up with 4 in the 5th inning nailing the victory 7 - 2. Christian Theodoropoulos was terrific on the hill going 4 innings with 3 K's all the while keeping Mineola off balance. He was followed by Matt Dillon (2 innings, 4 K's) & Lee Schwartz (1 inning 2 K's). The Pride offense was led by David Luchino (2 for 3, double) with a booming shot to left that almost left the park and Steve Curran (2 for 3); Harrison Marder (2 for 3); Chris Theo. (1 for 1, 2 walks, 3 runs scored). Patrolling the field were, Christian Dluginski, John Fitzgerald, John Mahon, Brian Hartigan & Mario Lacerra.
