The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Long Island Chapter set an aggressive goal of doubling their biker participation for this year's MS 150 Twin Forks Bike Ride, taking place over September 13 and 14.

Last year, 275 bikers participated, and the chapter's 2008 goal is over 500 cyclists. Should they reach that number, they would have the largest Bike Tour in Long Island's history. Their plan is to use the concept of "biking together"...asking cyclists to bring friends along for the ride.

"When friends join together in activity, amazing things can happen", said Stacy Bona, vice p[resident of development at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Long Island Chapter. "If every cyclist asks two friends to join them, we would triple last year's numbers."

The chapter plans on rewarding cyclists who refer friends to take the ride and join in the movement to eradicate MS. "We are in talks with several sponsors willing to offer rewards to those who can get others to participate in the MS 150 Twin Forks Bike Tour," Bona stated.

The Twin Forks MS Bike Tour takes riders through Long Island's north and south fork where participants will enjoy breathtaking views on this 150-mile course. Themed rest stops, great food and festivities are all included to make for an even more memorable experience. Fifty and 75-mile rides are also available.__
