The NHP Funeral Home "Reds" Vs. The Hand Rolled Bagels "Giants"

Once again Reds showed outstanding progress while hitting live pitching and making put-outs that made all who attended proud. The Reds faced the tough Hand Rolled Bagels Giants and were led by the hitting of Amanda Garcia, Lyndsay Lapidus, Katie Fitzgerald, Anjali Rampersaud and Joanna Vissichelli. The girls never let a Giant hit get through the infield as Claire O'Regan, Lauren Valencia, Lia DiMitri, Haley Lempert, Brianna Kerrane, and Victoria Kaiser bottled up the field and made every play.

May 23

Bagels N A Whole Lot More "Wildcats" Vs. Mineola "Lightning"

Leading the hitting was Lauren Wasserman with 7 hits and 5 runs scored. Lauren also hit a line drive base hit up the middle. Camryn Dluglinski, Kristina Horan, Katie DeMeo, Daniella Connor, Joanna Mauceri, Michaela Zabicki & Kasey Borduas all had 5 or 6 hits a piece and all scoring 4 runs each. Kristina Horan made 2 put outs at home, getting knocked down on one play and held onto the baseball. Joanna Mauceri had 2 put outs at first base and second base. Una Reid had 3 big hits and did a nice job catching. Katie DeMeo had 2 nice put outs playing first base.

May 19

Wilson, Elser "Thunder" Vs. Mineola Jaguars

The Jaguars jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Thunder answered back to tie it up with an RBI single for Carolyn DiMaria in the 1st and in the 2nd when the Jaguars walked in a run. Nicole Rossello and Carolyn DiMaria's combined effort on the mound racked up 10 K's. Monica Mattei, Hannah Meyer, Megan Adams, Nicole Kaiser, Theresa Mattei and Sophie Robinson all walked and combined for 7 runs. Hits came from Carolyn DiMaria (2 for 2), Ashley Vicente and Victoria Pilosi. Both teams battled back and forth to set up a dramatic bottom of the ninth. With the Jaguars up 8-7, the Thunder loaded the base with two outs. Ally Barilli hit the ball toward first. The pitcher got to the ball, threw home and the catcher held on to get the force. This time the Jaguars got the win.

May 18

The Fundamentals of Baseball "Yankees" Vs. First Med Urgent Care Med. "Braves"

The hitting and fielding at the yard for the Yankees was in full swing this week. The charge of both were lead by CJ Riccobono, C.Goodwin, L Montelbano,F stigiliano,B Lee, C Vincente, P Mctiernan and L Teseriro. The team also had outstanding defensive plays by L Teseriro, CJ Riccobono F Stigliano and P Mc Terirnan.

First Med Urgent Medical "Braves" Vs. Fundamentals of Baseball "Yankees"

The tone was set in the top of the first when Dylan Kareff made a major league stop and long throw that first baseman Elliot Weissman stretched and caught to retire the side. Other defensive standouts were Derek Coval with a fine assist from second base, Eric Madenberg with 3 unassisted putouts at first base, and Julian Montenegro with a diving stop at shortstop in the 4th inning. Peter Carreca and Raymond Grisalfi each collected 3 base hits. Brian O'Regan, Sam Ugolini, and Jake Blancher all had 2 RBI on the afternoon.

May 22

Sperry Associates "Angels" Vs. BAB Mechanical "Rangers"

The Angels ended their regular season with a well-deserved win against a tough Rangers team. James Castaldi led the way by pitching a 1-2-3 inning with 2 strikeouts and also belting a single and a bases clearing double. Further powering the offense was David West and Jake Secker with 2 hard-hit doubles each, Rasul Rahman with a double of his own and Nick Mrakovcic, Tyler Baron and Brian Park with scorching singles. Adam Krieger made his pitching debut and showed the Rangers an impressive fastball. John Denara showed his strong arm at third base after fielding a hot grounder and firing across the diamond to first base for the out. Strong defense was also provided by Michael Zuschlag scooping up balls in the dirt behind the plate and keeping the Rangers baserunners in check.

May 2

Ridgewood Savings Bank "Reds" Vs. Broadway Plaza Hotel "Astros"

The Reds dropped a tough battle against the Astros in an extremely well played game. The pitching and fielding was the story of the game lead by the efforts of Michael Lopez, Michael Varrone and Andrew Kraus on the mound and Jessie Martinez, Peter Tagios and Brendan Sullivan in the field. The lone hitting highlights were provided by Sam Berk and Alex Cowan.

May 4

Ridgewood Savings Bank "Reds" Vs. Gigi's Italian Restaurant "Mariners"

Another strong effort was turned in by the Reds in a high scoring victory over the Mariners. The game's hitting stars were Michael Varrone with three hits, including two triples, Jessie Martinez with three hits, Robbie Altheim and Andrew Kraus, who both reached base twice. The lone pitching highlights were scoreless innings turned in by Peter Tagios and Zeeshan Anwar. Fielding gems were turned in by RJ Donohue and Michael Lopez.

May 7

Ridgewood Savings Bank "Reds" Vs. Dr. Margaret Zadnik "Blue Jays"

In an exciting game, the Reds hung tough against the first place Blue Jays but came up just short. Michael Lopez reached base three times; Michael Varrone, Peter Tagios and Sam Berk each reached twice. Zeeshan Anwar and Brett Dieber each pitched well. Brendan Sullivan and Alex Cowan were strong behind the plate. Both Andrew Kraus and Robbie Altheim turned in fine plays in the field.

May 14

Hand Rolled Bagels "Rays" Vs. F & F Roofing "Orioles"

The Orioles lost to a good Devil Rays team by a score of 2 -1. Good pitching efforts came from Justin DiDonato and James Messina each with 4 strikeouts. Hitting contributions came from Ethan Volk with a double and Brian Haug with a single. Eric Rennie had a good eye at the plate and drew 2 walks. Mike Sitzer had 2 good plays at third base and David Lapidus had a great play in the outfield. David Goodman, Nick Miceli, Jarett Greben and Gavin Schwartz all turned in a good team effort. Our best wishes go out Zachary Leventhal who broke his arm and will be out for the rest of the season.

May 18

Mike NHP Convenience Store "Pirates" Vs. F & F Roofing "Orioles"

The Orioles won against a good Pirates team with a score of 8 - 0. Impressive pitching efforts came from Justin DiDonato, James Messina, Brian Haug and Ethan Volk with 11 strikeouts and 1 walk. The Orioles base runners were also very busy with contributions from Brian Haug with 3 singles, Gavin Schwartz with 2 singles, Mike Sitzer with a single, James Messina and Ethan Volk each with a double and Justin DiDonato with a triple. David Lapidus and David Goodman had 2 walks and Nick Miceli added a walk of his own. Good fielding plays came from Gavin Schwartz at second base and Brian Haug and Mike Sitzer in the outfield.

Ridgewood Savings Bank "Reds" Vs. Hand Rolled Bagels "Rays"

The Reds returned to their winning ways against the Rays. The pitching stars were Brett Dieber, Peter Tagios and Michael Varrone who all kept the might D-Rays bats in check. Michael Lopez lead the hitting attack with two hits. Sam Berk reached base twice and was a standout in the field. Both Jack Briamonte and Alex Cowan delivered key hits, with Alex running the bases fearlessly. RJ Donohue and Robbie Altheim contributed in the field. Keep up the great play.

May 21

New Hyde Park Funeral Home "Red Sox" Vs. F & F Roofing "Orioles"

The Orioles won against a good Red Sox team with a score of 10 - 1. Good pitching efforts came from Justin DiDonato and Brian Haug. The Orioles bats were very busy with 2 singles each from David Lapidus and Ethan Volk, a single and a triple each from Jarett Greben and James Messina and a double each from Gavin Schwartz and Nick Miceli. Eric Rennie contributed big time with a walk and 2 great plays in the infield. Mike Sitzer and Nick Zovich rounded out the team with a good effort at the plate.
