Girls Farms Do It With Defense!
Gino's and Margaret Zadnick teams enjoyed a superbly played defensive game as girls on both teams continue to make plays. Caitlin O'Connor showed All-Star ability at 3B making 3 plays in one inning! Melissa Ward caught everything that was hit her way and had 3 hits offensively. Ward, a talented lefty with a picture perfect swing will be a force on this team for years to come.
Kayla Fitzpatrick is also opening eyes with her sterling catching ability and you would be hard pressed to find a harder worker. Fitzpatrick will block anything thrown her way and receives the ball with ease as she has now patented her famous "flip" of the ball over the shoulder. Jamie Mooney has displayed a rifle of an arm and has also made numerous putouts at 1B. Mooney, another power hitting lefty also had 4 hits in the contest. Felisa Bronzino is a talented second baseman who may well be the fastest player on the squad. Jenny Hickey had 4 hits, 2 coming from the left side of the plate as she continues to work on switch hitting. Hickey possesses the soft hands and nice arm needed to play the middle infield. Sophia Jacoby had 3 hits for the day, one being a line drive single to left as she is fast establishing herself as an RBI machine. Ciarra Lennon, Domenica Gentile, Justina Grosso, and Larissa Scandura have each showed flashes of brilliance in the field. Each girl has taken advantage of every opportunity and made their presence known. Olivia Lugo also had 3 hits for Gino's to go along with 2RBI.
The girls are well aware of game situations, are starting to understand defensive concepts, and have even started sliding into the bases, but it is the spirit with which they help one another which flows out of the dugout on a daily basis that is most impressive. Great work ladies!

It was another tough loss for Ridgewood savings bank on Monday May 5th as they were shut down by a very good pitching effort on the part of the "Big Green Machine.", The hard hitters could only eek out three runs by Thomas Salzarulo, Adrian Puran and Kyle NG. Kyle went two for two. Robert Pomara reached base three times , but was stranded each time. On defense Sage Varma continues to improve his fielding with a nice unassisted play at first. Finally, congratulations to Greg Burger for a great first effort as a pitcher.
The Battle of the Banks Continues...
The battle of the Savings Banks, Ridgewood vs. Maspeth was a thriller this evening, and when it was all over, both sides had to be satisfied with the tie in the end. There were some terrific plays in the field for each team. Ridgewood's shortstop, Robert Pomara caught a ball behind second base to end a late threat by Maspeth. He was also on the front end of a force play at third, that Joseph Jonas jumped way up to get and came down on the bag for the out. This was an incredible game played by all on the Roslyn team. Out of all 6 innings played, the Roslyn batters only struck out a total of 7 times. Patrick McGoldrick had our first RBI by hitting a triple to right field. Roslyn was determined to stay in the game by holding the other team scoreless in the 3rd and 4th innings with the help of our pitchers, Patrick McGoldrick, Aidan McManaman and Jack McShane. Jack McShane made a couple of spectacular fly ball catches and also hit a double scoring one of our 3 runs in the 5th inning during our 2 out rally. Dylan Ng and Dylan Patel also hit a double to score a couple of runs in the 5th. Roslyn Savings Bank kept hitting the ball but just couldn't get enough balls past the other team for the win. Roslyn looked and played like a team that wants to win.

R. Stutzman Edges Out NHP Funeral Home!
NHP Funeral fell to Stutzman Funeral last night by a score of 7 to 4. It was a close game throughout with the lead changing hands on multiple occasions. The NHP side put forth a good effort but came up a little short. After going ahead 2 - 0 in the first on the power of Kevin Gorman, Ronan Murphy and Mike McLoughlin, Stutzman later came back to go up by 1. Although the NHP pitchers did an excellent job, a 2 out 3 run rally did them in. Although a losing effort, NHP continues to improve with Xander Burawa and Anthony Fulgieri getting their first hits of the year.

Lynch, McGreevy, Davang, Campson Lead Nuzzi!
For Nuzzi, Kyle Lynch blasted 2 homers and had 5 RBI as he continues his emergence at the plate. Matt Devang and Sean McGreevy were the stars on the mound going the distance. Devang used a sneaky fastball and a knee buckling change to keep the Keller hitters off balance. This was two disciplined teams going at each other and for the average fan, the result was a thoroughly enjoyable evening at the ball park. Later in the week, Nuzzi went on to beat a talented Rayo squad 5-1 as lefty fireballer Cody Campson and the fundamentally sound Lynch combined for 14K's to lead the charge. If you haven't seen the NHPLL Boys Majors, you are certainly missing something!
