Grant Thornton "Mets" Vs. J & K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Yankees"

The Mets and Yankees met in yet another thrilling "subway" matchup. The Yankees demonstrated great sportsmanship by lending the Mets three of their finest players - Matthew Birch, Jack Knupfer and Alan Birbaum. All three Yankees provided strong hitting and stellar defensive play. The Mets were also the benefactor of strong hitting from Hans DeWitte and Ryan Gonzalez. Stephen DeRocchis and Marc Baronci were superb in the field and provided smart baserunning.

Grant Thornton "Mets" Vs. First Med Urgent Medical "Cubs"

Lead by the strong hitting of Ryan Gonzales and Justin Balwan, the Mets had a sensational game against the "hard-hitting" Cubs. The Mets received gold glove efforts from Jonathon Leung and Hans DeWitte, both making terrific plays in the field. Matthew Baronci and Stephen DeRocchis displayed solid hitting and some nifty base-running. Arnav Handa had another strong game in the field and came up with some clutch hits propelling the Mets to a great finish.

J & K Electrical Contracting Corp. "Yankees" Vs. NHP Funeral Home "Reds"

The Yankees built on their earlier success with a fine game vs. the mighty Reds. Chris Haughwout, Matt Farkus, Dave Budhram and Scott Levy led a potent attack. Christian Zamora, Jack Nathan and Joey Muratore excelled both on offense and defense. Matt Farkus and Jack Knupfer chipped in with spectacular plays in the field. Alan Birnbaum, Aaron Newman and Ben Bidner each stroked extra base hits.

Bagel's N A Whole Lot More "Wildcats' Vs. Hillside Beverage "Racers"

Daniella Connor, Michaela Zabicki, Katie DeMeo, Kasey Borduas, Camryn Dluglinski, Christina Bennet and Isabella Fazzolari lead the way with 3 and 2 hits, respectively. Alana Moran had a big hit and ran the bases well. What was impressive with the Wildcats today was their play in the field with solid defense. Lauren Wasserman caught a fly ball playing 3rd base, Joanna Mauceri made a nice play at 2nd base for a force out, Hannah Kareff also made a force out play at 3rd base and Una Reid made a force out at second base and had 2 hits. Kristina Horan continues to play hard, making some nice plays in the field and having fun.

Floral Park Bulletin Vs. Wilson, Elser "Thunder"

The Thunder topped a tough HBQVB squad relying on patience at the plate and some timely hitting. Everybody managed to reach base at least once during the offensive onslaught. Tough pitching by Nicole Rossello kept HBQVB scoreless through 3. Fine play behind the plate goes to Nicole Kaiser and Erin Robinson.

First Med Urgent Medical "Braves" Vs. TF O'Brien "Athletics"

Sunday was the best defensive game played by the Braves this season. Early in the game, Ryan Cooney made 2 plays on the mound and Julian Montenegro had a strong inning at 1st base. Elliot Weissman made a great unassisted play at 1st, Eric Madenberg made 2 solid plays at 3rd base, and Jake Blancher grabbed a hard grounder behind 2nd. At the plate, Sam Ugolini and Brian O'Regan each scorched a line drive in the 5th inning. Earlier Dylan Kareff had 2 hits and an RBI. Peter Carreca and Derek Coval supplied the power with drives over the 3rd base bag.

NHP Kiwanis Club "Mets" Vs. The Fundamentals of Baseball "Yankees"

The Mets continued their good hitting with Matthew Rivera, Tyler Dauble, Scott Schanter, Nicholas Rakamaric, Herbie Hagemann and John Napolitano all going 3 for 3. Nicholas Ryan scored 3 runs and Christopher Bruccoleri scored two. Nicholas Lopez and Alex Lacerra made some nice defensive plays while Joseph Griffin turned another double play.

The Fundamentals of Baseball "Yankees" Vs. State Bank of LI "Nationals"

The Yankees had plenty of hitting and fielding this week. Our Slugger awards go to C. Goodwin, L. Montalbano, F. Stigliano, B. Lee , C. Vincente, P.Mc tiernan ,L. Tesoriero, CJ. Riccobono and J. Raphael. The Gold Glove Awards Go to Luke Tesoriero, C. Goodwin, J. Raphael and CJ Riccobono.

T.F. O'Brien "Diamondbacks" Vs. Dominick's Deli "Giants"

The bats came alive Tuesday night for the Diamondbacks in a 15-8 win over the gritty Giants at Merillon. Key hits were delivered by Ben Newman (multiple RBIs), Blake Cohen, Jordan Greiff, Greg Haynes (3 run triple) and Corey Rutkin. Strong defense keeping the Giants at bay was performed by Kevin Peteroy, Jack Belmonte (2 strong innings behind the plate) and Jacob Seidenberg. Excellent pitching performances were turned in from Jacob Portnoy, Brian Volk, Jack Tucker, Jordan Greiff (scoreless inning) and Greg Haynes (scoreless inning).

May 8

T. F. O'Brien "Diamondbacks" Vs. Gigi's Italian Restaurant "Marlins"

Despite a furious rally in the bottom of the 6th inning, the Diamondbacks fell 8-7 to the mighty Marlins on Thursday night at Dietz Dairy. The game was well-played by both teams. Pitching stars were Jordan Greiff (2 scoreless innings), Corey Rutkin, Jacob Seidenberg and Greg Haynes (2 scoreless innings). The offense was supplied by Jordan Greiff, Jacob Portnoy, Corey Rutkin and the newly switch-hitting Jack Tucker. Solid defense was played by Ben Newman, Blake Cohen, Kevin Peteroy, Brian Volk (who gunned out a would-be base stealer at third base) and Jack Belmonte.

May 10

T. F. O'Brien "Diamondbacks" Vs. BAB Mechanical "Rangers"

The Diamondbacks returned to their winning ways with an 11-4 victory over the rocking Rangers on Saturday at Merillon. Offensive heroes on the day included Jack Tucker (with a multiple hit game), Greg Haynes (RBI triple), Corey Rutkin (smash RBI double) and Jacob Portnoy (multiple hits and RBIs). Strong defense was played by Brian Volk, Ben Newman and Kevin Peteroy. Stellar pitching was provided by Blake Cohen (2 very strong innings), Jack Belmonte, Jacob Seidenberg and Greg Haynes.

Stutzmann Funeral Home "Cardinals" Vs. Broadway Plaza Hotel "Indians"

For the second straight game the outcome of the game came down to the final play. This time the Cardinals prevailed on the defensive side as Brendan Quinn applied the tag at home to preserve a 1 run victory for the Cardinals against a strong Indian team. The final play was set up as Thomas Messina smoked a 2 strike pitch with 2 outs to left center field. James Treadwell made a great play in cutting the ball off and getting the ball in quickly to shortstop Nick Mangia who then threw on to 3rd. The ball got by the 3rd baseman but backed up smartly by Pitcher Anthony Verde who through a strike to home for the final out (score that 8-6-5-1-2) as 5 Cardinal players contributed for the games final out. The Cardinals received offensive contributions from Lou Mangia, Chris Vitre, Jared Schwartz, Ishan Handa, James Reo and solid pitching performances from Tommy Murphy and Anthony Pitre in another solid team effort.

Dr. Zadnik, DDS, PC "Blue Jays" Vs. Ridgewood Savings Bank "Reds"

The Blue Jay offense was led by Daniel Hodes with a HR & triple. James Cotumaccio was also 2 for 3 with 2 singles. Jake Raher laid down a perfect bunt and Slater Dvoor was 1 for 1 with the defensive play of the game. Slater was given the game ball for his offensive and defensive play. Mike Carbone reached base 3 times. Colton Schnall was terrific behind the plate, throwing out 2 Reds base runners. The defense was anchored by the play of Harrison Dvoor, Andrew Cursio & Justin Roth. Nick Winkhart made his debut behind the plate.

City Line Florist "Ducks" 5 Vs. Dennett Law Offices "Bears" 6

Super effort was given by all the Ducks in a see-saw 6-5 defeat to a powerful Bears team. The Ducks got things started in the 1st inning when Travis Finkel singled. Ryan Marder cracked a double, moving Travis to third. Brennan Scanlon ripped a long triple to left to plate 2 Ducks. The Ducks scored again in the 3rd when Andrew Korpacz led off with a walk. Michael Barry got hit by a pitch and Iman Khalid drew a walk to load the bases. Brett Alper had a great at bat, fouling off a bunch of pitches before drawing a walk to drive in the run. In the 4th, Brennan led off with a walk, and then stole 2 bases. Brad Rutkin singled him home for another Ducks run. Trailing 6-4 in the 6th, the Ducks were looking to come back. Iman drew a walk, then Chris Ferlazzo sacrificed him to second. Brett drew a walk and Travis drove in a run with a single to center. But the Ducks gave it their all, coming up a bit short. Evan Clark was solid behind the plate. Brandon Martinez, Mitchell Schwartz, and Peter Ferrante played rock-solid defense.
