Kevin Dunn, of Williston Park, has announced that he is running for Herricks School Board trustee opposite incumbent Nalini Chugh.
Dunn is a recently retired Lieutenant from the New York City Fire Department and presently serves as a trustee on the Williston Park Village Board.
He is a 1976 graduate of Herricks and has lived in Williston Park for the last 45 years. He and his wife Tina are raising four boys. Two boys attend Herricks High School, one boy attends the Herricks Middle School and one will be entering Kindergarten in the fall.
Dunn states, "I am concerned about rising taxes, concerned for the seniors, like my mother, on a fixed income and concerned about residents who are living from paycheck to paycheck.
"Our school taxes are the largest part of our tax bill and we need to stop the escalating taxes now. Further, I believe that working with our local officials we can achieve that goal.
"I believe, through negotiations we can increase productivity with savings for the taxpayers and provide more instruction for our children.
"I believe that we need to look at every aspect of our district to see where every dollar is going. Therefore, I urge all voters to vote Row B, Kevin Dunn, because I am a taxpayer advocate for the benefit of the children."
Along with the budget, Dunn urges all to vote for the bond issue on the ballot because it addresses much long overdue repairs to the neglected infrastructure of the schools and the school grounds.
Dunn added, "If the bond is passed it will be at no extra cost to the taxpayer, so I advocate the passage of the bond as well as the budget. Just remember to vote Row B for Kevin Dunn."
